The Onion Boil
The viral seafood boil experience, but made with a whole, juicy onion.
55 min · 2 servings
Ingredients
- 1 Large Yellow or White Onion (peeled, top and bottom trimmed flat)
- 1 stick Butter (melted)
- 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
- 1 tbsp Old Bay Seasoning
- 1 tsp Paprika, 1 tsp Lemon pepper, 1 tsp Cajun seasoning
- Squeeze of Lemon juice
Method
- Cut a deep "X" into the top of the onion, cutting about 3/4 of the way down (do not cut all the way through, so the base stays intact).
- Place the onion on a large square of heavy-duty aluminum foil.
- Mix the melted butter, garlic, lemon juice, and all the spices in a bowl.
- Pour the seasoned butter directly over and inside the cuts of the onion.
- Wrap the foil tightly around the onion to completely seal it.
- Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 45–50 minutes until the onion is incredibly soft and practically melting into the spicy butter sauce.
